What do you need to bring with you?

Photo ID.
Your driving glasses or contact lenses and the prescription.
Details of any ongoing medical conditions.
Prescription medications that you are taking.
The DVLA standard D4 medical form.

What does the medical examination involve?

The examination will only take around 15 to 30 minutes. It includes an eye test, blood pressure check, physical examination and BMI check. You will be asked questions about the following topics:

Cardiovascular system, including high blood pressure.
Endocrine system, such as diabetes.
Musculoskeletal, such as back pain.
Neurological, such as stroke.
Psychiatric, such as depression.
Alcohol and drug history.
Vision.

The doctor will complete the form based on your answers, medical history, medications and the results of the examination findings.

Do I need to bring my medical history?

Bring details of any ongoing conditions and a list of the medication you take. The doctor completes the D4 from your answers, your history and the examination on the day, so the more you bring the quicker it is.

Who carries out the medical?

This medical assessment is performed by our GMC registered doctors at Just Health clinics. To complete this medical you need to be assessed by a doctor who is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC). The eye test is also included at no extra cost.

How often do I need a D4 medical test?

D4 drivers must have medicals as follows:

At first application for your provisional category C1 (7.5t), C (rigid), D1 (minibus) or D (bus) licence.
When you turn 45 you will need another medical, followed by one every 5 years until you are 65.
From 65 you will need a medical every year.

How do I confirm my booking?

Pay over the phone when you secure your booking.
Pay on the day, please ask when booking.
